CIGEO 18U junior team tennis wins St. George Spring League

18U JTT Tennis team Orangeburg

In the winter of 2014, CIGEO’s 18U and 14U Junior Team Tennis (Orangeburg and Calhoun counties), JTT team competed in Walterboro’s Winter League.

Due to their triumph, CIGEO made history by being the first tennis team from Orangeburg and Calhoun counties to participate in the South Carolina United States Tennis Association, SC USTA, JTT State Championship on July 18-20, 2014.

Now, two years later, CIGEO’s 18U JTT Team’s announces their victory in St. George’s 2016 Spring League. This victory leads to the CIGEO 18U having the privilege to participate in SC USTA JTT State Championships on July 15-17, 2016 at Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center in Florence, S.C.

CIGEO Tennis Association consistently takes advantage of opportunities to encourage our youth to continue to strive for excellence as well as represent Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties.

Focus on health: CIGEO, USTA offering tennis program in Orangeburg, Calhoun

In an effort to keep area youth physically active and engaged, the Community Inter-Generational Enrichment Organization and the United States Tennis Association are now offering community tennis services in Orangeburg and Calhoun counties.

The organizations have started two junior tennis team leagues. One JTT is for youth 14 and under and the other is for youth 18 and under.

Recently, both teams represented Orangeburg in matches against Walterboro tennis teams. While the 18 and under team won the gold medal as local champions, the 14 and under team won the silver medal as first runner-up.

On Saturday, a victory celebration was held to honor the winning team members. As champions, the 18 and under team will attend the USTA South Carolina State Championship July 18-20 in Florence.
